Combs' double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

29-year old American power forward Jeremy Combs (201-F/C-1995) put on an amazing game in the last round for Nelson Giants and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
He had a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Nuggets (#10, 3-8) 98-86. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Giants maintains the 11th position in New Zealand league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 8 games and recorded just one victory. Combs just recently signed at Giants and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Jeremy Combs averages just after two games 22.0ppg, 8.5rpg and 5.0apg.

Second best performed player last round was Jose Perez (196-F-1998) of Otago Nuggets. He is Dominican Rep. forward in his first season at Nuggets. In the last game Perez recorded an impressive double-double of 32 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Nuggets lost that game 86-98 to slightly lower-ranked Giants (#11, 1-8). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Nuggets keeps 10th position. 8 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Nuggets managed to get this year. Perez is one of the most experienced players at Nuggets and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to Luca Yates (208-C/F-2004) of Hawkes Bay Hawks (#7). Yates showcased his all-around game by recording 14 points, 20 rebounds (!!!) and 6 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Hawks, leading his team to a 87-75 win against the higher-ranked Saints (#2, 7-3). Hawks needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 5 lost games. Yates has a great season in New Zealand. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 12.3rpg (#1 in league). Luca Yates has also New Zealand passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
